Refund & Returns

Effective June 10, 2026 · Applies to all visitors, account holders, and recipients of any RingsToday service or communication.

1. The 30-day window

You may return an eligible RingsToday ring or loose stone for a refund if your written return request reaches the concierge within 30 calendar days of the documented delivery date and the item arrives back at our atelier within 14 calendar days of the return-merchandise authorization (RMA) we issue.

The 30-day clock begins on the carrier’s confirmed signature, not on shipment. Saturdays, Sundays, and U.S. federal holidays count.

2. The 20% restocking fee

Eligible returns are subject to a 20% restocking fee based on the item subtotal (before shipping and tax). The fee covers re-grading the returned stone, re-photographing the setting, atelier re-handling, and the lost lead time on the replaced inventory.

The 20% fee is waived in any of the following situations:

  • The item arrived damaged and you reported it within 48 hours of signed delivery.
  • The stone delivered does not match the IGI report number on your written order confirmation (the “stone-swap full-refund guarantee” below).
  • A documented manufacturing defect is confirmed by the atelier within the 12-month defect window.
  • We cancelled the order before delivery for any reason on our side (out-of-stock, fabrication issue, regulatory).

3. Required return conditions

To be eligible for a refund, the returned item must arrive:

  • In its original packaging — presentation box, outer shipping carton, all inserts, and the tamper-evident security tag intact.
  • With the original IGI (or other) certificate for any graded stone. A missing certificate triggers a re-grading charge that will be deducted from the refund (typically $75–$150 per stone).
  • With no wear marks, polishing marks, scratches, or signs of having been worn on either the metalwork or the stone. Even a single day on a finger leaves marks that the atelier will identify under loupe.
  • With the original stone unchanged. The stone delivered must be the exact stone returned, identifiable by the IGI report number, the laser inscription on the girdle (where present), and the recorded inclusion fingerprint. Any swap or substitution voids the return entirely and may be referred for fraud review.
  • With no resizing, engraving, or modification performed by you or any third party after delivery.

4. Non-returnable items

The following items cannot be returned:

  • Custom rings whose setting was bench-built to a unique specification (a hand-sketched mounting, a non-catalog gallery, a recipient-portrait engraving, etc.).
  • Rings sized outside the standard half-size range when the resize required structural alteration of the gallery or shank.
  • Engraved items where the engraving cannot be polished away without leaving evidence (interior or exterior text, dates, monograms).
  • Stones modified after delivery (re-cut, re-polished, or re-set into a non-RingsToday mounting).
  • Items lost or damaged in your possession after delivery. These are addressed by your separate jewelry insurance, which we recommend you bind on the day the ring arrives. See the Warranty & Aftercare Policy.

5. How to start a return

  • Step 1. Email concierge@ringstoday.com within the 30-day window with your order number, the reason for the return, and clear in-the-box photos of the item, packaging, and certificate.
  • Step 2. The concierge will issue a return-merchandise authorization (RMA), the insured-return shipping instructions, and the deadline for the package to leave your hands.
  • Step 3. You ship the item back via the carrier and method specified in the RMA. Insured return shipping is at your cost (typically $35–$75 for U.S. domestic) unless the no-fee waiver above applies, in which case we cover it.
  • Step 4. The atelier inspects the returned item against the conditions in section 3 within 5 business days of receipt.
  • Step 5. If the return passes inspection, we issue the refund — item subtotal, less the 20% restocking fee where applicable, less any re-grading charge for a missing certificate — to the original payment method within 5–10 business days. Original outbound shipping and tax are not refunded.

6. Damaged on arrival

If the courier hands you a package that is visibly damaged, refuse it if possible. If you accepted the package and discover damage on opening, take photos of the carton, the inner packaging, and the item before doing anything else, and email the photos to concierge@ringstoday.com within 48 hours of delivery. We will send a prepaid insured return label and your choice of full refund or replacement at no cost to you.

7. Stone-swap full-refund guarantee

Every stone we ship is verified against the IGI report number on your written order confirmation, by inscription where present and by inclusion fingerprint. If you receive a stone that does not match the report — either the wrong stone arrived or the stone was substituted — we will refund 100% of the order, cover the insured return shipping, and offer to rebuild the order with the correct stone at the original price even if the spot market has moved against us.

To invoke this guarantee, email concierge@ringstoday.com with the IGI report number on your confirmation and the inscription or photos that show the mismatch.

8. Exchanges

We treat an exchange as a return plus a new order. The 30-day window, condition requirements, and 20% restocking fee apply to the returned item. The replacement is priced at its current catalog price.

9. Lost or stolen in transit

If a package is confirmed lost or stolen in transit before delivery, we file the carrier insurance claim and either replace the item or refund you in full at our option. Risk of loss after delivery passes to you, which is why your separate jewelry insurance should be in place on day one. See the Shipping & Insurance Policy and the Warranty & Aftercare Policy.

10. Chargebacks and disputes

We prefer to resolve any disagreement directly with you. If you file a chargeback before contacting the concierge, we will share the order timeline, written confirmation, IGI matching, signed delivery, and any return inspection results with the issuing bank. Any unresolved dispute is governed by the arbitration clause in section 18 of the Terms of Service.
