Warranty & Aftercare
Effective June 10, 2026 · Applies to all visitors, account holders, and recipients of any RingsToday service or communication.
What this policy covers
RingsToday stands behind the workmanship of every ring it ships. This page describes the express limited warranty, lifetime aftercare services, and the relationship between this warranty and the separate jewelry insurance you should bind on delivery day.
Anything not expressly covered below is excluded. Read it alongside the Terms of Service and the Refund Policy.
1. Twelve-month manufacturing-defect warranty
For 12 months from the documented delivery date, RingsToday will repair or, at our option, replace any ring component that fails due to a manufacturing defect. Covered defects include:
- Broken or unsoldered prong tips not caused by impact.
- Solder joint failure on shank or gallery.
- Loose head or center collet not caused by impact.
- Plating failure on rhodium-plated white gold within the first 12 months.
The warranty does not cover loss of a center stone or side stone, deformation from impact or compression, scratches or everyday wear marks, chemical damage (chlorine, abrasive cleaners, household chemicals), or damage from third-party repair or modification.
2. Lifetime aftercare services
- Free single resize. One complimentary resize within the standard half-size range, performed at our atelier. Insured shipping in both directions is on us.
- Lifetime cleaning and inspection. Send the ring back at any time and we will ultrasonic-clean, polish, retip prongs as needed, and return it. Insured shipping in both directions is on us.
- Lifetime trade-up. Trade in any RingsToday ring at the original purchase price (less the 20% restocking equivalent) toward a new ring of at least 1.5x the original value. Available once per ring.
- Re-grading and re-photography. If you want a fresh IGI report or new bench-quality photos for insurance, we can arrange both at cost.
Aftercare services do not extend the 12-month manufacturing- defect window.
3. What is not covered
- Loss of the ring or any stone after delivery. This is what jewelry insurance is for. We can recommend insurers; we are not licensed to sell insurance.
- Theft after signed delivery. File with your jewelry insurer and your local police department.
- Damage from impact. Bent shanks, deformed heads, chipped stones from drop or impact.
- Damage from chemicals. Chlorine pools and hot tubs damage gold; bleach damages prongs; harsh cleaners erode plating.
- Wear inconsistent with everyday use. Heavy manual labor, contact sports, and crush hazards are foreseeable; the ring should be off the finger.
- Repair or modification by anyone other than the RingsToday atelier. A non-atelier repair voids the manufacturing-defect warranty for the affected component.
- Cosmetic wear over time. Polish marks, hairline scratches, prong wear, rhodium fade after the first 12 months, patina on yellow gold.
4. The case for separate jewelry insurance
A standard homeowner’s policy typically caps jewelry coverage at a few thousand dollars and may exclude mysterious-disappearance loss. A scheduled jewelry policy from a specialist (Jewelers Mutual, Lavalier, BriteCo, or your home carrier’s rider) typically costs $1–$2 per $100 of insured value per year and covers loss, theft, mysterious disappearance, and damage. Bind coverage to take effect on the delivery date. RingsToday does not earn a commission on insurance referrals.
5. How to file a warranty claim
- Step 1. Email concierge@ringstoday.com with your order number, photos of the issue, and a brief description.
- Step 2. The concierge issues a warranty-service authorization (WSA) and insured-return shipping instructions. Insured return is at our cost for in-warranty defect claims; out-of-warranty repairs are quoted before work.
- Step 3. The atelier inspects within 5 business days. If the defect is confirmed in-warranty, we repair or replace and ship back insured at no cost.
- Step 4. Out-of-warranty issues receive a written repair quote within 5 business days; you decide before any work begins.
6. Exclusive remedy
Repair or replacement under this policy is your sole and exclusive remedy for a manufacturing defect. To the extent permitted by law, all other warranties — express, implied, statutory — including implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, are disclaimed. Some jurisdictions do not permit such disclaimers; in those jurisdictions the warranty rights granted here are in addition to the statutory minimum.
